Wednesday evening Emma started with a high fever, so we kept her home from Kevin and Lori's yesterday. No big deal since I had been home from work going on day 6 of a migraine/cluster headache. Well this morning her fever kept climbing and although she was eating, drinking, and acting somewhat normal she was complaining that her ear and her leg hurt. After a call to the doctor, they were able to see her almost right away (we LOVE our doctor's office).
By the time we got to the office Emma's fever was 104.2! 15 minutes earlier it had only been 101.7! It climbed that fast! A quick exam told us that her ears were clear and although she is on the young side for strep, the doctor (not Emma's regular doctor) decided to do a strep test anyways. He said strep in kids under 3 years old happens, but is not common and that strep usually does not peak until the ages of 5 - 8 years old. But since she had a wicked high fever and really no other symptoms, he figured it wouldn't hurt. So a quick swab of the throat and a few minutes later had us with the answer we were waiting for.....Emma is pregnant. Ha Ha. Really....that is what the doctor said when he came in with the rapid strep results. But he did confirm that she does in fact have strep. So we were sent home with antibiotics and a cranky toddler.
Her fever right now is holding steady in the 103's which is still a little too high for my liking, but I am patiently waiting for the Tylenol and Motrin to do its work. Emma is content to sit on the couch watching princess movies and read her My First Little House books and be a cuddle bug. And this kid has been going through popsicles like they are nobodies business. Hopefully this will all pass soon and she will be back to herself quickly.

Poor Em! I hope that all of the meds start working soon, so she gets feeling better!
And banish that stupid headache! 6 days sucks. ((Hugs))
