Our trip to Chicago was jam packed with loads and loads of cousin and family time. And although 8 days seemed like a long time, the days flew by way too quickly and before we knew it, we were saying good-bye and heading back out east.
We went to Brookfield Zoo with Kiegan and Auntie Kay while Liam was recovering with Auntie Ali at home from his hospital stay from bronchitis. The girls got picked to get up close and personal with the dolphins during the dolphin show and giggled with glee when we got splashed (soaked really) during the jumping part of the show.
We got to meet Baby Gavin for the first time (he was born on the 1st of the year) and we also got to meet Baby Jackson who was born in September. Emma loved playing with the babies and helping to change their diapers.
A trip to the Field Museum with Kiegan and Liam and Aunties Ali and Kay was filled with oooh's and aaaah's and laughter while the kids met Sue the T-Rex, looked at mummies, played instruments, dug for fossils, and dressed as turtles. And of course we got lots of squished pennies!
A trip to the American Girl store and the Hershey Store with Busia and Auntie Kay led to us heading home bogged down with red American Girl shopping bags full of new outfits for Emma's dolls. She had a great time exploring the new store and at the chocolate shop she got to be a candy worker!
She got lots of Paw and Busia time and on Sunday a family dinner at Uncle Pat and Auntie Michelle's house allowed ALL the cousins to be together for the first time ever! And somehow - we were lucky enough to get them all on the same couch at the same time, looking at the same camera to get a picture! And no one was screaming hysterically! Success! I was so glad that we were able to see Cole and Chase since we had gotten to see so much of Kiegs and Liam during the rest of the week.
We even were able to get together with Stacy, my oldest friend from when I was 5 years old, for a coffee date!
It was a great trip, but we were exhausted by the time we landed in Hartford.
