Making New Friends

This morning Emma and I went up to Wells, Maine to meet Jaime and her family at the beach. The interesting part about this beach trip was that neither Emma nor myself had ever met Jaime or any members of her family before, but here we were driving up the coast to have a beach day with them. Here is a little bit of background for you:

In March/April 2006 when I was pregnant with Emma, I joined an online message board that consisted of pregnant women that were all due with babies in November 2006. We would chat online about our pregnancies, parenting, the births of our children, our newborns, how tired we were, etc. As more time went on, the group of mom's migrated to a different chat board and somehow 3 1/2 years later, a large number of us are still part of what we call the November 2006 mommies. We consist of moms who live all over the world and United States. We are lawyers, teachers, engineers, scientists, social workers, business owners - you name it, we have it. We are truly an amazing group. We have been through a lot together and some of us have become amazing friends. Some of the moms have had the opportunity to meet up with other moms while on vacations or b/c they live nearby. Well, Jaime and her family (who live in Louisiana) were in New England visiting family members in Maine and a meet-up was a must!

After years of seeing photos online and reading about her family (she has a son Emma's age and a daughter who turned one in April) it was so neat to meet them in person! Emma and Dakota (her son) got along fantastically and her kids were sweethearts! They chased each other in the water, dug in the sand, and there was lots of giggling! We had a wonderful time. I wish we could have played longer!

Fun! It looks like a great time.

One of these days we'll make it East to get the girls (and us, of course!) together.
