A Fun-Filled Day

With the days of summer winding down and the start of school for all of us just around the corner, we are trying to enjoy every day that we can. Yesterday, the weather was gorgeous - sunny and 75 degrees. While Bill had teacher meetings all day Emma and I hit the road and filled our day with blueberry and raspberry picking at Parlee Farms, stopped to pet the goats and eat some blueberry donuts before leaving of course. A trip to the park to climb like monkeys was followed by a peanut butter and jelly sandwich picnic and then a quick trike ride on the rail trail. While walking and riding the rail trail we saw a little sign that informed passers by that there were snapper turtle eggs and that the estimated hatching days were between Aug something and September 3rd. We looked around for the eggs, but didn't see them. Emma however spotted a tiny snapper turtle! Apparently they had hatched already! She was so excited to see a little baby one. After the rail trail, we headed to the library, then home to bake a blueberry pie. The special thing about this pie was that Em made it on her own. I measured out the correct amounts of ingredients and walked her through it, but she did it all! It was a tiring, but fantastic day.

That's awesome...you'll have to show me exactly where you went now that the weather is getting cooler.
