Cows, Goats, and Other Farm Friends

On Friday, the weather made it close to 70 degrees so Emma and I met are great friends Alexis & Alison and Amaya, Kara, and Billy over at Davis Farmland. They had just opened for the season on Thursday so were hoping to see some baby farm animals and boy were we in for a treat! Baby calves, baby goats, baby sheep, chicks, baby emus (born to a mama emu named Emma), ponies, turkeys, pigs, llamas, alpacas, bunnies, and some random reptiles. The girls had a great time and Emma was so much more comfortable around the animals than she was last year.

Last year, although she was excited to see the animals, she would freak out if they got too close. This year, they were the ones running away from her! She had no problem walking right up to them and petting or feeding them. There were a few larger sheep and goats that still gave her the creeps, but I couldn't blame her - they were annoying me as well. She got to pet a baby chick and help collect chicken eggs from the chicken coop and put them in the basket. She brushed the calves, held a baby goat and rode the pony ride all by herself! Last year, I walked along side her, holding her shirt while she held onto the saddle. Not this time. She wanted to do it herself! We can't wait to head back there again!
