This weekend is a big weekend here in the 'Burg if you are a fan of bike races. Every year since 1960 the 'Burg has hosted an enormous bike race in honor of Art Longsjo, a Fitchburg native who competed in the Olympics in both speed-skating and in cycling. Racers come from all over the world to race and it is the 2nd oldest road race in America. Lance Armstrong even raced in it. It goes on for several days with different time trials and circuits and since the weather was so gorgeous this afternoon we met up with Alison and Alexis to watch some of the racers go by. Emma and Alexis loved it and were perfect cheerleaders. They clapped, jumped up and down, yelled "go, go, go!" as the bikers rode by and were fascinated at how fast they were going.
We are hoping to get out and see them again on Sunday for another race in the center of town.
