Classroom Critter

We signed up to bring home another friend from Emma's classroom this weekend. Although it is usually a stressful event for Bill and I, as we are always concerned that something horrific is going to happen to the poor little creature while staying at our house, it is always a wonderful experience for Emma. This weekend we signed up to bring the hermit crab home. The class had 2 crabs, Thunder and Lightening, but recently they both died, so a new one has joined their class. And yes, for those that are wondering, death and dying was discussed in a very preschool-appropriate way. They voted on what to name the new hermit crab and "Spongie" was the winner. However, Emma liked the name "Cocoa" which did not win, but she continues to call him that. Anyhow, we signed up to bring Spongie Cocoa home and were counting down the days this past week until it was time! We have built him houses with blocks to let him crawl around in and Callie has been sniffing at him. Oh, and Emma gave him crab kisses. Luckily, she didn't get her nose pinched :o)
