Make New Friends, But Keep The Old

Over the past few years, Emma has had made wonderful friends through a plethora of opportunities - daycare at Erin's house, daycare at Kevin & Lori's house, gymnastics, ballet, the park, school, summer camp, soccer, even through my online mommy boards. You name it, wherever we go, she manages to make a friend or 2. Some of these friendships have faded over the months or years due to new schools/daycares, new ballet classes, we stopped going to gymnastics, busy schedules, living in different towns/states. However throughout the past 4 1/2 years there has been one friendship that has remained constant no matter what - Emma & Alexis. It never matters what school or daycare we have been at or what schedules have been like. It never matters how much time passes in between playdates or get togethers. It doesn't matter if interests have changed from Dora to Caillou to Disney Princesses. These girls are the best of friends.

Bill and I met Alison and Jeff in September 2006. If you do the math that was when I was still pregnant with Emma. Alison was pregnant with Alexis. We were both due in November 2006. We met in a stuffy classroom at Leominster Health Alliance Hospital for birthing class. We were the only 2 couples. It turned out that we were both expecting girls and both went to the same ob/gyn's office for care. A match made in heaven. It took us a little while to get together after the girls were born but once we hooked up that was it. The girls got along great and Alison and I hit it off. We are even emergency contacts on each others school forms for the girls.

No matter how many new friends Emma meets, she always asks about Alexis and wants to me tell her the story of how I met Alexis's mom :o)
