Way Overdue Updates

I don't even know where to begin with the updates so I will just include some random ramblings and hope that you are all caught up by the time you finish reading.

December was an interesting month around here. Emma caught a stomach bug that hung around for about 9 days total which resulted in here being admitted to the ER for IV fluids b/c of dehydration. She was a trooper and did great even though getting the IV was not an easy task. While Emma was on the last few days of her bug, the east coast was slammed with an ice storm that knocked power out for quite some time. We were fortunate to get power and heat back quicker than others in town, but schools were closed for 8 days and it made life very difficult and cold for all of us.

We had a nice Christmas with Pepere here in Massachusetts, but missed all of our family back in Illinois. Just before Christmas, Uncle Pat and Auntie Michelle got married and on New Years Day, Uncle Mike, Auntie Kate, and Cousin Cole welcomed Baby Gavin into the family.

Emma has become "Miss Independent" and insists on doing everything on her own. Not always a bad thing unless we are in a big hurry. She loves counting, singing, reciting colors and shapes, painting, and watching Barney. The big purple dinosaur has invaded our house. She has also become interested (perhaps obsessed) with the Disney Princesses.

Barack Obama has become a popular man in our household as well and Emma freaks out when he (or his family) is on TV, in the newspaper, or someone mentions his name. She sat and watched the inauguration with me last Tuesday, eagerly shouting his name and clapping whenever they showed him.

We have been keeping busy with day care, library visits, and playdates with old friends and new friends.
