Hooray for a Snow Day!

Today we are all home due to yet another snow storm here in the northeast. No school for Bill, no gymnastics for me, and no day care for Emma. Just a nice lazy Wednesday for all of us. It is nearly 12:30 in the afternoon and Emma is still in her jammies, has watched countless episodes of Barney (thanks to the library), and is now happily enjoying a bowl of macaroni and cheese. Earlier this morning she spend some time "chatting" with Busia on Facebook, which really just consisted of her typing letters and hitting the enter key, but she was convinced that she was really corresponding. She would ask me where a letter was and then she would hit the key, very pleased with herself.

We are thankful that she is finally at the age and stage where she can entertain herself for an extended amount of time. She will spend time in her room playing with her dolls, having tea parties, and just talking to herself. She got a "My First Leap Pad" for Christmas and although the age on it is 3 years and up, Emma has grasped the basic concept of the electronic toy and can use it herself. All of this allows Bill and I some time to get things done around the house without a toddler in tow. A little bit of freedom. And I stress the "little bit" part.
