Big Changes for Emma

In the past few weeks Emma has had to adjust to some big changes around our house. On November 10, 2008 after 2 years and 23 days - Emma stopped breastfeeding. Well...Emma didn't choose to stop, Mommy did. Amazingly enough she did pretty well with the adjustment. the biggest change was not nursing in the middle of the night and although we had a few rough nights at first we all got through it.

Last week, we started transitioning Emma into her own bed. We had been co-sleeping since Emma was brought home from the hospital and as much as I loved it, it was time to make a change. She was becoming a bed hog and it was just getting too crowded in there! We started the week of Thanksgiving by putting her in her bed, but mommy was sleeping on her floor to help her fall back asleep when she woke up. The past 2 nights, Emma was on her own and did great. She made it until 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning and last night she stayed in her own bed until 5:15 a.m. right before Daddy woke up to get ready for work. Wahoo! Progress. I am still getting used to her not being in bed with us, but so far so good.
